The theme for International Open Access Week 2014 is "Generation Open" highlighting the importance of students and early career researchers as advocates for change in the short term, through institutional and government policy, and as the future of the Academy upon whom the ultimate success of the Open Access movement depends. The theme will also explore how changes in scholarly publishing affect scholars and researchers at different stages in their careers.

Mon 10/20 – Watch Party for OA Week Kickoff Webcast

Join us for a live-streaming webcast of the official kickoff for International Open Access Week, hosted by SPARC and the World Bank. Speakers will highlight the importance of students and early career researchers in the transition to Open Access. Light refreshments.

What to learn more about Open Access? Would you like a tour of CrossWorks, our institutional repository? The Digital Scholarship Librarian will be available to answer questions at the Open Access display table in the Main Reading Room.

A faculty member (Prof. Robert Bellin), professional researcher (Assistant Archivist Sarah Campbell) and students (from the Manuscripts, Inscriptions and Documents Club) discuss the role Open Access has played in their research.
