Deaf Catholic Archives

The Deaf Catholic Archives (DCA) provides insight into the history of Deaf culture as well as an understanding of how Deaf Catholics practice their faith (culturally) in new ways, when traditional methods are insufficient. The DCA includes a wide variety of materials such as newsletters, scrapbooks, periodicals, conference material, publications, photographs, ephemera, books, and audiovisual recordings from parishes, Catholic schools for the Deaf, regional organizations for Deaf Catholics, and other institutions across the globe.

Digitization of key components of the DCA has been completed and is available via CrossWorks. Finding aids detailing the materials found in the collection are also available and may be found here in our finding aid database. Additional materials in the collection are currently being documented and will be made available to search in our finding aid database.

More information about the Deaf Catholic Archives may be found on the Archives & Distinctive Collections Guide. Questions about the DCA and requests to access the physical collection may be directed to deafcatholicarchives@holycross.edu.
