About the Collection

About the Sheehan Poetry Collection

The Elisabeth E. Sheehan ('94) Poetry Collection was established in 1992 by The Class of 1994, friends, classmates, faculty, and members of the Holy Cross Community in memory of Elisabeth Ellen ("Beth") Sheehan, a sophomore English major from Dallas, Texas (previously Pound Ridge, New York) who died at 19 as the result of a March 17th traffic accident near the College. She was a 1990 honors graduate of the Ursuline Academy in Dallas.

Commemorating her love of literature, nature, and sailing, donations were also made in her name to the Sailing Club (of which she was a member) and to the Scholarship Fund.

The Elisabeth E. Sheehan Tree Memorial, a flowering crab apple tree, was planted outside of her dormitory, Hanselman Hall, on April 29, 1992.
