Reading and Accessibility

This guide was created in an effort to help Holy Cross students access read a loud and audio versions of the research you need for your classes and individual research. HC Libraries recognizes that there are many different ways of learning and reading, and we built this guide to help those who learn better from audio resources access the tools they need to succeed. There is guidance for general read aloud software available for free, accessing audiobooks through different libraries, and for our individual research databases that have read aloud and audio features. It is important to recognize that people read, learn, and comprehend information in a variety of ways. While some people learn the best through the act of reading, many people take information in better in audio formats. Many studies have shown that while the experience of listening and reading are different, they both offer neuro-cognitive benefits and help you learn and understand information. Below are some tools to aid with audio transcription of pdf readings, so that you can convert your readings into audio books if that works better for your learning process.
