Artstor Access and Help

Open an Artstor Image Group (public or password-protected)

Open an Image Group 

  1. From the top navigation bar in Artstor, click Organize > Open image group. You can also access public folders from the Open Image Groups and Folders icon in the middle of the Digital Library home page.
  2. A new window will open showing your folder hierarchy.  Public folders will be listed under Institutional Folders. Click the folder icon next to the title of the public folder to expand it and view the image groups within.
  3. Double-click the title of an image group to open it.

Note:
Login to access Image Groups in your personal "My Work Folder."
For public Folders and their Image Groups, you do not need to login.


Unlock a Password-Protected Folder
Follow these instructions once and the Folder and its Image Groups will be available to you each time you login.

  1. Log in to your Artstor account.
  2. From the top navigation bar, click Find > Unlock password-protected folder.
  3. Enter your name and the password the folder owner gave you. Click Submit.
  4. To view the unlocked folder, now click Find > Browse image groups. The unlocked folder will appear in this list.

How to use Artstor to study for an exam online

To study the images online, without printing them, you can double click on any thumbnail in the Image Group and review the entire set from the Image Viewer. 

  • Use the arrows below the enlarged image to move through the group. 
  • Toggle between "Hide Captions" and "Show Captions" to quiz yourself.
  • Click on the "i" to view full image data.

Print or Save as a PDF

Follow the instructions on this page to open and Artstor Image Group

Go to the Artstor menu bar and click Share > Print image group and select:

  • Full record: prints full ARTstor data records
  • Brief record with commentary: prints brief object information (Creator, Title, Date), along with any instructor's commentary
  • Brief record with personal notes: prints brief object information, along with any personal notes

 

A new, print-ready browser window will open, containing a header with the title of the group, followed by thumbnails of the images accompanied by their data records.

Go to the web browser's menu and select the Print option.  Choose a printer or select PDF to save the current view as a pdf.

Options for Sharing Image Groups on Moodle

Follow the instructions on this page to open an Artstor Image Group

Option 1: Live Link

In the top navigation, click Share > Generate image group URL
Copy the link in the pop up entitled "Thumbnail page URL" 
Share this link with others via email or a Moodle course page.
 

Option 2: PDF

Follow the instructions in the box above for creating a PDF of the Image Group.
Save the file and post it on Moodle.
