US Census - NAICS Codes
The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is a standard system in which industries are assigned a number. This number can be useful when searching for information about the industry.
When researching your public company, the Hoovers report about your company should list both the NAICS number AND title. Write down both. Use this information to search for the relevant industry report in "Business Market Research Collection."
For non-profit organizations, the major NAICS codes and titles are listed below.
- 813211 for Grantmaking & Giving Services
- 813311 for Human Rights Organizations
- 81331 for Social Advocacy
- 8131 for Religious Organizations
