CrossWorks: The Institutional Repository for the College of the Holy Cross

This guide provides information about Holy Cross' institutional repository. Learn why and how to submit your work to CrossWorks.

Pre-, Post and Publisher Prints

Depositing your article in CrossWorks BEFORE it is published is the easiest way to make your work available to the widest audience possible.  This is the archiving method that most publishers prefer, as the majority will not allow you to include a final published article in an institutional repository.

What is a preprint?

A preprint is the original version of your article that you wrote and submitted to the journal.

Other terms: Author's Original Manuscript (AOM), Author's Original (AO), Submitted Version
What is a postprint?

postprint is a version of your article after peer-review but before the final publisher formatting. It should NOT look like the final version. It is typically a Word document.
