Previous research highlights sufficient ecological habitat to support pumas in the eastern United States; however, their reintroduction requires social and institutional support as well. To this end, we conducted research to assess attitudes about puma reintroduction among key constituencies like hunters, rural residents, and young people."

"Multi-decadal datasets from systematic surveys of birds are rarely published, despite their potential to yield important information about local changes in the environment over time. I compare bird surveys at Harvard Forest in central Massachusetts, USA, between 1993 and 2016 with two unpublished annotated bird checklists from the area (1948 and 1970), along with data from other long-term bird survey sites in New England, and regional community science data."

"Oysters have socioeconomic and environmental importance globally and are currently threatened by microplastic pollution. Whether solutions (e.g., laws, policies, or best management practices) are needed to protect oysters from microplastic pollution is still in question given the complexity of the issue and the multitude of stakeholders involved. Minimal research has been done to examine the public's view of the microplastic problem and, separately, few economic studies have examined non-monetary values for oysters. Here, we employed a discourse-based method (deliberative multicriteria evaluation methodology) to engage with oyster-relevant stakeholders in Massachusetts, USA, to evaluate how the stakeholders discussed and interacted with each other on the topic of 'microplastics polluting oyster habitats' using hypothetical scenarios."

"During the 1990s, coastal habitat off southeastern Massachusetts (SEMA) supported commercially viable fisheries for American lobster (Homarus americanus). Over the past two decades, landings and post-larval settlement of lobsters in this region, which is near the southern edge of the species' range, have declined substantially, concurrent with a period of significant warming of the coastal waters off southern New England. Previous work has suggested that rising ocean temperatures may adversely impact the survival of larval and early benthic phase (EBP) lobsters and may cause adult lobsters to seek cooler offshore waters during the critical time of larval release."

"We examined historical changes and patterns in the nonnative flora of Franklin County in western Massachusetts. The historical flora was documented by examining more than 16,000 herbarium specimens and additional records from the literature. We characterized the recent flora during 10 years of field work from 2010 to 2019. Temporal changes and distributions of nonnative species were examined at the town level."
