Site Search Using Google

Sometimes, it can be difficult to search websites using their built-in search functions - and sometimes those functions don't even exist. Google has a site search feature that can help you find what you're looking for on a third-party website.

Simply go to www.google.com and type "site:[search term]" into the search bar.

This will bring up all pages on the domain you entered that use your terms.

Searching for Old Tweets

Twitter does have an Advanced Search, but at this time, I don't see a way to access it if you don't know the specific URL. Here it is: https://twitter.com/search-advanced?lang=en

Twitter is difficult to search - the platform only displays the most recent 3,200 Tweets from a given user, and doesn't have an obvious way to change search settings.

To look at a time period for a specific user, type the following string into the search bar: from:username since:yyyy-mm-dd until:yyyy-mm-dd

Example:

This also works for hashtags, e.g., you could search "from:#repealthe8th since:2018-01-01 until:2018-06-01."
