Although the "official" definition of digital scholarship is widely contested, the term typically signals cutting-edge scholarship that employs digital tools in its aim to re-examine traditional modes of study. Also known as digital humanities or digital initiatives, digital and emerging scholarship includes a large range of projects from research data management all the way to makerspaces. Other examples include digital archives, text analysis projects, website-hosted databases, and 3-D modeling. These projects are seen across all disciplines and are often inter-disciplinary in nature.
